Rooney and Ailbe have done alot of growing since I've last written. Ailbe's is more noticeable of course but Rooney is becoming such a kid. Other than still not wiping his own kiester all other traces of babydom are gone. Not to dive too much into this subject but there is a cute little story here. A little while ago one of his preschool teachers told me that he had to "use the facilities" at school and when he was done he popped his head out of the door and yelled "My mom is going to be so proud of me! I wiped my own butt!".

It's true I was proud of him when I found out but all attempts on his behalf kind of stopped there. The other day after he bellowed through the house for me I noted that he was almost 4-1/2 and maybe it was time he tried it on his own. He informed me that he will wipe at preschool and I will do it at home. He seemed pretty pleased with the compromise but I think we'll be renegotiating that deal pretty soon.

Besides picking up some mean negotiating skills Rooney has become really inquisitive and imaginiative over the last 6 months or so. He loves a show called
The Upside Down Show where two guys have adventures in their own house while using their imaginations and a pretend remote control. Rooney really likes the pretend remote control and often while I'm driving he'll tell me that he hit the Upside Down button. When he does this his arms shoot up in the air and start waving around like he's hanging upside down from the ceiling.

He wants me to be upside down too but doesn't seem to understand that I'm driving and that requires hands on the wheel. Sometimes he'll just hit the Pause button or Freeze button and he wants me to say (through clenched teeth) "I'm frozen, hit the Unfreeze button" or "I'm Paused, hit the Play button". He really thinks its so funny and keeps himself cracking up during the car ride. He also has an imaginary fly buddy (which he got from the show) named Fido. Fido has gone to school with Rooney, Aunt Annie's house and likes to hang out in Rooney's room. You often know that Fido is around because Rooney will make a whrrr-whrrr-whrrr sound like a fly flying around. It's pretty funny and the great thing is that Rooney knows it's just pretend because he'll tell you if you ask.

The second time around with a baby you really get it how fast they grow. Ailbe will be 4 months on Friday. She has fit in with our family so seamlessly that it feels like she has always been here and I'm already missing alot of the newborn stage that was just here only weeks ago. I talked about Ailbe being a great sleeper here and there on Facebook. From day one she's been good but the other day she floored us. She slept 12 hours straight! I checked on her 2 or 3 times to make sure she was OK. Just sleeping peacefully.

What is so funny is how an hour or so later she took a nap! Gotta love this kid! This picture was taken during that nap. She's doing more than just sleeping but we may be most thankful for this feat. Ailbe has also found her voice recently. In a few years I might not be so happy about that but it's pretty cute now. Daddy found her laugh not so long ago also. He was getting some good belly laughs out of her the first night. Thankfully we caught a little bit of me and her on video. That was a great night. Ailbs is also half rolling over and I'm pretty sure she's teething. There has been alot of drool and her hand is constantly in her mouth. Mike said she had the whole thing in there the other day until he told her it wasn't lady like. Her 4 month MD appointment is in 2 days so hopefully her new stats will be posted soon. I think she might lose the nickname C. Hubs pretty soon...well maybe not her thighs will be with her until she's walking.
