Rooney's New Moccasins

Last night Rooney slept over at Annie, Jim & Cuyler's. This gave Mike and I a chance to go out for dinner and a movie. It was just as hard the 2nd time to be without Rooney for the night. From what Annie tells me they had a great time though. She got to cuddle him 1/2 the night & made her pampered pug, Izzy, a bit jealous.

Mike & I looked at the pictures we had of Rooney throughout the night & I felt compelled when we came home, around midnight, and work on his baby book. We had a nice night and we might be ready to do it again in a few months. Rooney's cousin Cuyler is already marking it on the calendar.

Something that is very nice with the all of my siblings having had baby boys, and mine being the youngest, is getting the hand-me-downs. Of course some of the items are a bit outdated, maybe stained & the clasps a little worn. The items are special though because you can reminisce on how cute they were on the previous wearer, remember when they were purchased & it saves you alot of loot. And the really special items are the ones that you gave originally.

A little over 9 years ago I went to Reno. Cuyler was just 6mo. old and my little cuddle bug. When I was in Reno, I was shopping for souvenirs, looking for something special to bring Cuyler back, when I found a really cute pair of moccasins. I had no clue what size he wore, eyeballed the size & decided to purchased them anyway. When I got home, I was excited to put them on him, but we discovered that the moccasins were too small for his little ball-y feet. Annie & I were pretty bummed but she really liked and she held on to them. They've gone unworn this whole time...until today.

When I picked Rooney up from Annie's, he was wearing Cuyler's little, special, unworn, moccasins...and they fit! I knew it was a good purchase 9 years ago, but I don't think I could have realized then, exactly how good of a purchase it was.

I probably saved myself $0.50!
