Oh I've been meaning to post for days. Our little prince seems to have acquired a cold (thanks Dad) so he's been a bit grumpy the last couple of days.

We have been letting him
self soothe when we lay him down for sleep (which means he may have to cry himself to sleep). This was going really well, not too much crying, until this week. Oh man he would cry for over a half hour. Sometimes he would sound so pathetic, we would second guess ourselves on how tired he really was and let him come out. We were right the first time, and he would finally fall asleep on us out of pure exhaustion. I'm hoping the crying fits will pass soon, when he's feeling like his old self. Anyone reading this please humor me and let me believe that's true.
A few exciting things have happened this week. Rooney has been a bit trepidacious to enter the realm of table foods.

He was always such a good eater, no complaints and barely snubbed any vegetable...as long as it was smooth and came from a jar. I have been having problems getting him to try new foods and he seems a little put out with having to chew. I realized I had to become a little more creative and this week I was able to get him to eat raspberries, cherries and a nectarine. He also now loves hummus, when served to him on a Baby Mum Mum (see picture) and he is eating Cheerios as a snack. We have been easing him onto milk and he will now drink it plain without complaint.
With Rooney starting to walk and going off of formula I have become aware that I have to be pretty conscientious of his diet and make sure he gets everything nutrionally that he needs. Being creative with his food has been a challenge, but I really enjoy finding new things for him eat. I especially enjoy when he
does eat them. I am hoping by exposing him to different foods at a young age, that when he is older, he will enjoy trying new foods and eventually have a broader palate than myself, but you'd basically have to be an Eskimo not to (umm...wait a minute. They eat whale blubber, right?).
