Friday was the 16-week ultrasound, and we'd actually be able to tell the gender. Finally, we can start using the child's name. So, what is it going to be? Ailbe Pippin? Or Tecumseh Fang?
As much as I like the name Tecumseh, looks like that one will have to wait until we need a replacement for Courage. Cuz we're having a girl!
We also got some photos. One of these is a foot, and the other is a profile. Determining which is which is an exercise left for the reader.

Mike forgot to note that we will expect everyone to pronounce Ailbe with the Irish accent instead of the common American pronunciation of Al-Bee.
Is it Ayl-bay? I hadn't known Tecumseh was in the running and am grateful you're having a girl, although if she had been a boy and Tecumseh was the choice I would have said "what happened to Flozell (sp)?"
It would be All-Bay with your best Irish brogue. This way her name could be a little different with each individual pronunciation. Not only will the name be a little less common we've decided to add on the complicated factor.
It's good to know I finally came up with a name worse than Flozelle (FWIW, I ended up naming my Zune Flozelle. Couldn't very well name my child after my Zune, could I?).
I think the official pronunciation is still up in the air. I work next door to a Legitimate Irish Person, and asked him how to pronounce Ailbe. His sounded a lot like "ehl-beh".
He pointed out that different dialects could very well have different pronunciations. So, our pronunciation will be Gaelic, Western-Washington dialect.
Seems to me Flozell could also be a girl's name for the thing, couldn't it?!?! Or how about the "name verification" I had to type to send this comment: Erbia?
You could name your child Zune for that matter. I will pronounce the name Aylbeh which would be the Gaelic/Midwestern/SoCal version. I wonder what Rooney will call her, which may end up being what we all call her.
Just in case anyone doesn't know we're joking Ailbe is pronounced just like Alby which thankfully is exactly what Rooney is calling her already.
What is her middle name going to be? And for that matter, what is Rooney's middle name? I think Ailbe is a terrific name!
Hey, Dad is right -- these word verifications are awesome. Phizab!
Kristi since we already picked a name we won't hold it against you if you used your suggestion or stole your dads for your little bundle. Erbia if it's a girl, Phizab if it's a boy!
Btw...the thing?!?
I said the same thing when Mike wrote that!
