Odds and Ends

I wanted to mention a few things that have happened recently that I couldn't cover in the last couple of posts. The first thing is that we have successfully created an "Infant Playgroup" in the Moms Club.

It seems in the last infant playgroup the Moms Club had, all the kids became toddlers, and no one formed a new playgroup for the new babies. So we finally got it off the ground and we have successfully met 3 times. Rooney likes all the kids and thus far we have not had any fist fights.

I have been volunteering more time with the Moms Club. This is really directly related to the fact I like hanging out with the other Moms that have started volunteering their time and coincidently these are some of the same women that are in our playgroup. It's all a big circle. Other than every once in a while contributing an article for our newsletter and passively being an active member on several committees, I have volunteered to start and probably contribute a great deal to our new Members Only blog that we will be starting. Obviously, I have alot of experience in this department. I thought a blog was a great idea- now if I can just remember my camera.

In wedding news (Dan & Kim's)...we have purchased an adorable tuxedo for Rooney off Craigslist. Oh man we tried it on him at the couple's house! Too cute. I have a picture but this is of another tux, not Rooney's, because I haven't taken a picture yet. From the picture I think you can get a pretty good image of how cute he'll be in it.

We'll make sure he makes an early entrance.

Lastly, just today I was out to lunch with another Mom and her 2 kids. She was remarking on Rooney's 6 teeth. Just as I was going to correct her and point out he was getting his 7th in, she corrected herself and said 8 teeth!!!!

Where did that other tooth come from? So Rooney is now getting his front top 4 and bottom 4. Someone get this kid a steak.

Grandpa's Pics

Rooney's Grandpa Wade forwarded some great pics from their visit. Ahhhh it's so nice to know someone knows how to work a camera (since we seemed to forget how).

Walk Like A Man

Rooney has been doing a little vacationing. Grandma and Grandpa Wade came out for a visit, Aunt Kim was having her bridal shower and there was a whole lot of going out to dinner.

Roonster had a great time hanging out with his extended family and can't wait to visit Grandma & Grandpa on Bainbridge Island! Alot of stuff happened while Grandma and Grandpa (or Mom and Dad) were out, but for some reason the only pictures we took were when we went to Fado & had beers!

Not that he had to, but I think my sweet baby charmed his grandparents all over again.

Most days are pretty exciting when you have a baby (although other people may disagree when you start telling stories), for instance, yesterday Rooney & I met 2 visitors from Moscow and last night/today Rooney took his first steps.

Man, those tourists were pretty cool. Rooney's first steps were pretty cool too but after the Moscowites, it seemed pretty pedestrian. I'm just kidding of course. I was beside myself this morning! I think I scared him with my enthusiasm!

Mike still doesn't believe it, because he hasn't seen it. But he didn't believe Rooney got his 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th tooth either.

(Although I did not actually capture the 1st steps, I did capture Rooney's ridiculously cute sticking up hair)

Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon

It's been a week since I've last posted and Rooney has been plenty busy. This week Grandma Howard came to visit, Rooney's cousin Natalie graduated high school (I know you probably can't believe I have a niece old enough to graduate high school), Natalie had a graduation party and yesterday was Father's Day! Whew!

Here we are hamming it up at Natalie's graduation. Rooney could hardly wait to see his cousin...

He thought he'd do a little reading while he was waiting...

Ugh! This is taking forever...

Finally a Graduate!

We are so proud of Natalie...now let's party...

Everywhere Else They Call It Football

Yesterday Rooney and I went to watch his Daddy play football. Well...I wouldn't say we watched it. I yakked most of the time with Louise, the wife of Mike's co-worker, and Rooney flirted and showed off his new hat. Obviously, since I wasn't watching the game I couldn't take pictures...but here is one of Rooney and his new hat.

Pretty sweet, huh? You'll also notice that Rooney was dressed in one of his soccer outfits to support the World Cup.

We've had showers here (is that a Seattle weather term?) since last week. This has really put a crimp in Rooney & Mommy time. We've had several park days planned only to have them scrapped due to weather. Today was another one of those days but fortunately for us we were able to schedule a last minute playdate. Whew! I think we were starting to get a little cabin fever. When Rooney was sick the weather was beautiful.

Seems a little unfair to me to punish the baby twice, however, it did allow us time to take some Mommy & Baby pictures.

Rooney To Go

It's been a while since we've posted any video of Rooney. Here are 2 videos that we took this weekend of young Mr. Wade.

We laughed and cooed everytime we watched these. Believe me...we watched them many times!

Rooney Crawling

Rooney Clapping

I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as we did.

Rooneytime

Yesterday was a great day for Rooney. Not because we did anything fantastic, because we didn't, but because he woke up in a great mood and was feeling great. Maybe he was feeling so good because he found out he is going to see Grandma & Grandpa Wade AND Grandma Howard this month! Maybe it was because he found out he was going to Natalie's graduation next weekend. I'm not really sure, those are both good reasons, but I think there are 3 other reasons. Here they are in no particular order: 1. After more than a week he's finally stopped leaking liquids. 2. The 3 teeth he's cutting (right front and top/bottom right incisors) must have broken through and 3. We opened up the floor to him, which means, he has full range of the house. Yikes! This means I had to wash the floors. So good news for Rooney, more work for Mom.

I went crazy taking pictures yesterday. Since I decided to keep the TV off during Rooney hours well...I had time (in a picture below you'll understand why). He was so cute and animated so we had alot of fun. Here's a few:

Habla Inglés?

Today Rooney and I decided to get out and about, and we joined 4 other moms for a 3 mile trail walk at Seward Park. This park is really only a little over 6 miles from my house. Funny thing was not only have I never been to this park, let alone this part of town, but neither had any of the other women I was with. It's amazing what you'll find if you just go beyond the 5 mile circumference from your home. We were a little worried at first, we didn't know if we'd know the language.

(This is Kyle sporting his cool shades & boss hat)

It was a beautiful day, I wore shorts and it was really nice to get Rooney out of the house. He didn't seem too impressed, but you know how these kids are these days.

Rooney is definitely feeling much better today, although we still had 3 outfits changes. It was a big day, we had a long walk (which Rooney partially slept through) and we discovered some new exciting toys.

It's amazing how fascinating a dishrag and shoe horn can be.

Look Into My Eyes

Ah this last week has been a real journey. We've had so many up and downs with Rooney getting better and Rooney getting worse. The amount of laundry that has been done this last week is mind boggling. For a kid taking in so little, how can so much come out?

Below are some pictures of Rooney pre-illness:

Here he is eating and looking healthy. Who knew what evil lurked right around the corner?

During the week Mike, Rooney & I took a walk by the river near our house. We had been pretty cooped up during the week. It was a beautiful day, we saw some geese and Rooney got to flirt with a few folks. As a mother, to me, he looks very sick in this picture. I'm pretty sure he's dropped a few pounds and his eyes look so tired.

I hesitate to say he is on the mend, since every time I do he gets worse, but I do think he's nearing the end. We may even venture out of the house today, but not now, I have laundry to do.

Double Trouble

There's good news and bad news today. The good news is that Mike and Rooney are feeling alot better today. Rooney is back to eating full strength formula but I am still giving him smaller more frequent amounts. Also today Mike got his drivers side window repaired. I have to tell you I really like any type of service that comes to you. They came mid-morning & the Subaru is as good as new.

The bad news is today I have not been feeling too hot. I don't think I have whatever awful bug everyone had because my stomach is just kind of upset and I am really tired. I'm hoping this is as bad as it gets.

During the last week it has come to our attention that Rooney is starting to get his 5th tooth in. To continue with the hillbilly look, it appears it is his right side tooth. You'll notice that I flipped the picture so the arrows are on the correct side. Just hold a mirror up if you need to read the writing. I also wanted for you to be able to visualize Rooney's new look so I added what I feel to be appropriate hair.

Finally I'd like to congratulate my cousin Carrie on the birth of her twins Ella & Ethan on May 31st. Very exciting to have two new babies, a boy & a girl. It was suggested that maybe the babies should have been named Dana & Annie. I'm sure the birth certificates have already been filled out by now, but maybe they can be nicknames.

Just something to think about.
