More Than A Baker's Dozen

This is just a little update post about the IVF. We had the egg retrieval on Monday. It was very successful with 22 eggs retrieved. The MD called me an overachiever but I told him I was shooting for 30.

I was called by the lab on Tuesday and told that of the 22 retrieved 20 made it to the ICSI process. Of those 20- 19 made it through the process and fertilized! The transfer date is tentatively set for Saturday. We might go sooner but they would like to hold out until Day 5 blastocyst stage. Don't worry we won't be like that lady that had octuplets! Maybe twins but not 8. We will only have 2-3 put back and the rest on ice until we decide if we will have another baby. They won't do a pregnancy test for 14 days so I really won't have news until later and then I may wait to share anyway.

One cute little Rooneyism to this story. When I got home from the retrieval Rooney asked if I got the eggs. I have a picture in my head of him thinking of eggs are like the chicken eggs bought in a carton.

I am absolutely sure that he is thinking of chicken eggs and you won't have to answer for a long time where babies come from. You may have a lot of 'splainin to do when he's about 11 or so though!

I try to be open and honest with him so hopefully it won't be a big shock. I have a feeling I'll be the one doing "the talk" anyway. I don't know if Mike would be able to get through it.
