It's over! My month of Mike being home is totally over and it went by so fast. I have to say I am pretty nervous about next week. Ailbe has been a stellar baby but getting out of the house on time has always been my Achilles heel with Rooney. Getting two kids fed, dressed and in the car on a schedule almost seems impossible at this point. I've had a couple of attempts on getting ready, getting Ailbe ready and then picking Rooney up from preschool. Even with running out the door with my hair wet the soonest I could get there was 5 minutes late. Rooney's been handling it great but Mom not so much. Mike and I just recently started wondering how we are going to work the gym in with our schedules. It was so easy with Rooney but now with 2 kids we are starting to realize there are new obstacles. We're both really motivated to get our baby weight off so I know we'll work it out or just one of us will be fit.

Ailbe has really been changing and getting big. I'm not sure how much she weighs now but her cheeks, arms and legs are definitely getting a lot chubbier. She really seems to like when Momma holds her and Momma enjoys it too. Ailbs has been fighting clogged tear ducts/bacterial eye infection over the last couple of weeks. I don't really think it's bothering her but I find it to be pretty gross. I've been washing her eyes several times a day and finally took her to the MD on Wednesday. Her eyes are now clearing up and I can finally kiss her again (just kidding I was still giving her kisses).

As I said before Rooney has been handling the transition to having a little sister really well but he had been getting up at night. Most nights he would get up as much as Ailbe or more. The good thing about when he gets up is that we can immediately put him back into bed the bad thing is that he storms into our room and throws the door open. The door almost always hits the closet door behind it which makes a ton of noise and quite often Roon has turned on the hall light which is quite blinding when he throws the door open. Rooney will come in practically shouting and then will fumble with the pocket door on our bathroom as he goes to use it. He will generally leave that door open and then flip on the bathroom light, which is right across from where I sleep. Then with the light fully lit he will ask "Is that OK?". Nothing is OK about the situation but you just want to go back to sleep. Anyway, there have been some ugly mornings because of this but the other night I think I finally convinced him that it would be to his benefit to play in his room until 8am. Mom and Dad will be alot less grumpy and he has a much better chance of being able to watch "his shows" in the morning if Mom and Dad are happy campers. So far it has been working to both of our benefits and he has stayed in his room and I don't think he has been up more than once at night. Woo hoo!
Sometimes you CAN reason with a 4 year old and I love it.

Sounds like Rooney is just going through a phase. Too bad he can't go through it during the day! Anyway, love the photos. And you'll do great when Mike has to go back to work. You can do it!
Rooney is such a polite little guy, asking if it is OK if not before he turns on the lights at least before he turns the music on full blast.
You'll find your routine, it'll come to you.
