Weekend Eggstravaganza

What a great weekend we had here in the Wade household. Friday night, while Mike was at church, Annie had Roonster and I over for a delicious dinner (mac & cheese was included) and then Roon got to spend the night. They needed a little bonding time without Mom. Since Rooney was over there Mike and I actually made it through a movie Friday night and got to sleep in on Saturday morning (I really miss that). Once Saturday started it started out a little crazy with Rooney's soccer and then errands. Something really cool that happened was that Rooney tried out a new way of playing soccer and this time laid down on the field (to keep a closer eye on the ball I'm sure). I'm not sure how successful he was with this new method but he's at the age where you have to start figuring out your own playing style.

Later in the day we had a great little family dinner at a great pizza place we found and of course there were Easter eggs to dye! Can you tell what Rooney's favorite color is?

Saturday was also the very last shot day for me! I can't believe I made the 10 weeks (12 total) and hope one day my hips will recover. With all the excitement and errands going on Mike and Rooney still found time to put on a little evening show.

You can see Roon is becoming such a big guy. Not only is he getting taller and more mature but his attitude is growing as well. I hear myself saying "You better change that attitude" way more often than I'd like to. I've stopped myself from saying "I don't like the tone you're using with me" because that just reminds me too much of my mom talking to me. With his advancing age of course there are benefits. I don't have to carry him anymore he wants to walk everywhere, of course potty training is a huge benefit and I can reason with him to some extent. One of the best may be that he can now ask me in a calm and cool demeanor to remove the booger from his sleeve. When he was younger he would have either just left it or rubbed it in.

However, Rooney is not too old to believe in the Easter Bunny so Sunday morning was pretty fun...for awhile. He woke up Sunday morning and came to my room to hang out as he usually does. While he was cuddling mom Mike hid the eggs that we dyed the day before. It was raining so we had to do our egg hunt in the house. Rooney found them all and only spiked a few into the basket. Almost all the eggs survived! Roon got upset later because he really wanted to see the Easter Bunny and couldn't understand why he didn't have time to hang out at our house. There was also the predicable "M&M's for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner" debate.

Later that afternoon we went to Dana and Renae's where Rooney and Felix got to expend all their sugar energy by beating up on Cuyler. He acts like he doesn't love it but we all know he does. Dinner was great and we even got to meet Renae's biological Dad and her half-brother.

Whew what a weekend! Now we can start week 12 of the pregnancy.

The single-sock, no shirt tackle really seems to work well

Who knows? There may be a new catch phrase in soccer "Rest it like Rooney"
